    Occupational Purpose

    The primary purpose of this programme is to equip learners with the skills to confidently handle a range of computing devices and demonstrate proficiency in selecting, using, and integrating word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Graduates will be able to execute workplace tasks ranging from basic to advanced levels and apply these skills within specialised contexts.

    Key Learning Outcomes

    Upon completion, learners will be able to perform the following occupational tasks:

    1. Intermediate Word Processing: Create and manage intermediate-level documents. This includes working with multi-level lists, templates and styles, quick parts, advanced text editing, organising information in columns and tables, and using formulas within tables.

    2. Intermediate Spreadsheets: Create and use spreadsheets for data management and basic reporting. Learners will gain skills in using shortcuts, creating a wide range of formulas (including 3D formulas), using functions, cleaning data, sorting and filtering, conditional formatting, and creating charts and sparklines.

    3. Intermediate Presentations: Design and develop professional presentations incorporating graphics and multimedia. This involves the effective use of slide masters, manipulating charts, utilising SmartArt, integrating other applications, applying graphic enhancements, using animations and transitions, and setting up slide shows.

    The programme is delivered through a blended learning approach (combining face-to-face, online, and distance learning) and is structured into two main components:

    • Knowledge Module (Concepts and Principles): Focuses on the theoretical underpinnings of core computing applications.

      • Credits: 4

    • Practical Skills Module (Application): Focuses on the hands-on application of intermediate functionalities in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations.

    Entry Requirements

    To enrol in this programme, learners must have an NQF Level 3 qualification with basic End User Computing (EUC) skills. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for access, exemption, and the awarding of credits.
